File conversion troubleshooting: format, memory and output errors

Diagnose unsupported formats, oversized images, empty PDF text, encoding errors and incomplete downloads without sharing private files.

Why did processing fail?

Check the format and file size first. Renaming an extension does not convert the file. Encrypted or damaged PDFs cannot be processed like ordinary PDFs. Try a smaller file and read the error. Audio and video capabilities depend on browser codecs.

How can I get better image results?

Crop, resize, then compress. PNG suits transparent graphics; JPEG suits photographs but removes transparency. Avoid repeatedly recompressing a lossy output. Return to the original to try different settings.

Can I extract scanned PDFs or preserve complex Word layouts?

PDF extraction reads an existing text layer; it does not perform OCR. Image-only scans need a dedicated OCR tool. DOCX and Markdown conversion supports basic structure, not a perfect round trip for complex layouts, comments or tracked changes.

A useful diagnosis starts with a symptom

If the page cannot load its processing engine, input has not been sent elsewhere to work around the failure. Check whether the site loads normally and whether a browser extension or network filter blocks its resources. Save your source before reloading.

An output that opens but looks wrong needs a different investigation from a rejected input. Compare a representative page, row or image region with the original. Note the first place where information changes; this is more useful than a screenshot saying only “it failed”.

Before you finish

  • Record the tool name, browser version and selected settings.
  • Describe the expected output and the actual result separately.
  • Use invented data with the same structure for a reproducible example.
  • Do not paste tokens, full documents or personal identifiers into feedback.
