    Options

    Complete the required options first. You can keep the defaults for the rest.

    Preparing the tool…

    Before you start

    Read UTF-8, GB18030/GBK or Big5 text and export UTF-8. Inspect the decoded preview and confirm it before conversion; an incorrect but decodable legacy encoding cannot be detected reliably.

    How to use this tool

    1. Choose the local .txt file. The working copy stays in this browser.
    2. Review Input encoding, Line endings before selecting “Convert to UTF-8”.
    3. Review the UTF-8 TXT result, then use the available copy or download controls.

    Supported inputs and limits

    Plain-text files are limited to 10 MiB each and 30 MiB total; confirm that legacy-encoding previews are readable.

    Worked example

    Example input

    legacy-gb18030.txt
    Example options
    {
      "encoding": "gb18030",
      "encodingConfirmed": true
    }

    Example output

    你好,世界。
    第二行

    When something does not work

    Keep a copy of the source. For legacy encodings, select the encoding that makes the preview readable, then confirm it before exporting. An unreadable preview is not a successful conversion.

    Frequently asked questions

    Are my files uploaded?

    No. Files and tool input are processed in your browser. Moving around the site can keep a temporary workspace in the same tab. Refreshing or closing the tab clears it, so download results you want to keep.

    What should I check in this result?

    Read UTF-8, GB18030/GBK or Big5 text and export UTF-8. Inspect the decoded preview and confirm it before conversion; an incorrect but decodable legacy encoding cannot be detected reliably.
