Tool input and files are processed in this browser without being uploaded.
Before you start
Choose a moment in a local video, preview it, and save the browser-decoded picture as a PNG at the source video's dimensions.
How to use this tool
- Choose a video that plays in your browser. The file stays in this tab.
- Play or scrub to the moment you want, use the current playback position, or adjust the slider or seconds.
- Select Extract frame. Check the image and its dimensions, then download the PNG.
Supported inputs and limits
One local video up to 50 MiB. The browser must be able to decode it; frame-accurate seeking is not guaranteed for every codec.
Worked example
Example input
av.webm
Example options
{
"time": 1
}Example output
A 320 × 180 PNG image captured near 1 second, ready to preview and download.
When something does not work
If the video cannot be previewed or decoded, try a browser-supported MP4 or WebM file. If the captured moment differs, adjust the time and check the PNG preview again.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. Files and tool input are processed in your browser. Moving around the site can keep a temporary workspace in the same tab. Refreshing or closing the tab clears it, so download results you want to keep.
Will the PNG keep the video's resolution?
The PNG uses the decoded video's width and height, shown with the result. Some video formats have display metadata or browser decoding differences, so check the downloaded image before using it as a cover.
