Tool input and files are processed in this browser without being uploaded.
Before you start
Extract EPUB text in spine order as UTF-8 TXT, retaining chapter breaks and intentional blank paragraphs. This does not bypass DRM, render fixed-layout pages or use OCR for text embedded in pictures.
How to use this tool
- Choose the local .epub file. The working copy stays in this browser.
- Check your input, then select “Extract book text”.
- Review the TXT result, then use the available copy or download controls.
Supported inputs and limits
Document packages are limited to 20 MiB, 2,000 entries and 100 MiB expanded; macros and external relationships are not executed.
Each package entry must expand by no more than 100 times its compressed size; highly compressed or malformed packages are rejected.
An EPUB can contain at most 1,000 spine chapters. The isolated chapter preview supports embedded PNG and JPEG images up to 5 MiB each; missing, external or unsupported images are represented by available alternative text.

When something does not work
Keep the original EPUB. If the TXT is empty or misses picture text, inspect the book in a reader; this tool extracts text and does not perform OCR.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. Files and tool input are processed in your browser. Moving around the site can keep a temporary workspace in the same tab. Refreshing or closing the tab clears it, so download results you want to keep.
What should I check in this result?
Extract EPUB text in spine order, with chapter boundaries preserved. This does not bypass DRM, render fixed-layout pages or use OCR for text embedded in pictures.
