Before you start
Add an equal-width solid outer border to one image without cropping its picture. Choose 1–200 px per side and a color, check the new canvas dimensions, then compare the complete source and output before downloading the PNG.
How to use this tool
- Choose a static image.
- Choose a 1–200 px outer border width and its color in the visible controls; check the new canvas dimensions.
- Select “Add border and padding”, inspect the result, then save the output you need.
Supported inputs and limits
One static PNG, JPEG or WebP up to 20 MiB and 16 million pixels; the bordered output must also fit within 16 million pixels. Output is PNG without source metadata.
Equal opaque pixels are added outside all four sides. Transparent pixels inside a PNG/WebP picture remain transparent. The picture is not cropped, but the full canvas aspect ratio changes for a non-square source. No fixed 4:5 or 12:7 target, automatic fit, batch processing, or print sizing.
Files and input are processed in this browser. No account needed.

When something does not work
Choose one static PNG, JPEG or WebP up to 20 MiB. Use a whole border width from 1–200 px. If the output exceeds 16 million pixels, reduce the image or border width.
Frequently asked questions
How can I check the result from Image border and padding?
Compare the complete source and output side by side, then inspect the downloaded PNG at full size. The picture is not cropped; the full canvas changes dimensions and usually aspect ratio.
What should I check before using the result?
Use one static PNG, JPEG or WebP up to 20 MiB and 16 million pixels. The output must also remain within 16 million pixels. The opaque border is the same 1–200 px width on each side; transparency inside the original image is preserved. This tool does not fit a fixed target ratio.
Is my input sent to a server?
No. Tool input is processed in your browser, not sent to a server. Temporary workspaces stay in the same tab and are cleared by a refresh or tab closure. Save the results you need.
