    Set the volume change

    1× keeps the sample level; 0 mutes it. Higher gain also raises background noise and can clip peaks. This is a uniform volume change, not loudness normalization, compression or audio repair.

    Preparing the tool…

    Before you start

    Make one quiet WAV or browser-decodable MP3 clip louder, or lower its level, and save a new 16-bit PCM WAV. Listen before and after, choose a multiplier, and check clipping before downloading.

    How to use this tool

    1. Choose one local WAV or MP3 and listen to the original. The working copy stays in this browser.
    2. Choose a volume multiplier or enter one from 0 to 4, then select “Adjust volume”.
    3. Compare peak levels and clipping, listen to the saved WAV, then download it.

    Supported inputs and limits

    One WAV or browser-decodable MP3 up to 30 MiB and 80 MiB decoded samples. Gain 0–4×; 16-bit PCM WAV output, 8–192 kHz and up to 8 channels. This is uniform amplification, not loudness normalization or compression.

    Worked example

    Example input

    tone.wav
    Example options
    {
      "gain": 0.5
    }

    Example output

    tone-volume.wav — 2 seconds, peak 25% of full scale, no clipped samples

    When something does not work

    Use one supported WAV or browser-decodable MP3 within the size limits. If the result clips, lower the multiplier; if voices remain uneven, uniform gain is not the right operation. The download is PCM WAV, not MP3.

    Frequently asked questions

    Are my files uploaded?

    No. Files and tool input are processed in your browser. Moving around the site can keep a temporary workspace in the same tab. Refreshing or closing the tab clears it, so download results you want to keep.

    Will this make quiet speech match loud speech?

    No. The same gain applies to every sample, including noise. It cannot recover a damaged recording, even out voices, normalize perceived loudness or prevent distortion when peaks clip. Check the clipped-sample count and listen before downloading.
