Geometry deliverables need explicit metrics

Read track distances, deviation bounds, region boundaries and STL components under their declared measurement models before passing files onward.

Distance depends on its geometry model

A spherical horizontal track length differs from terrain distance, and a local planar deviation is not a global geodesic guarantee. Keep the declared radius, projection extent and segment boundaries with the report.

A lower point count still needs an error result

A device limit can require fewer points than an error tolerance allows. Preserve the measured deviation and treat an unmet required tolerance as failure rather than quietly delivering a poorer route.

A boundary is a policy choice

Points on a polygon edge can be included or excluded. Holes and overlapping regions need equally explicit handling. Preserve the selected policy with the CSV so a second import can reproduce its assignments.

A component is defined by shared edges

Two STL parts can touch at a vertex without belonging to the same edge-connected component. Exact original coordinates avoid accidentally welding nearby triangles, but they do not repair a damaged mesh. Review the source-index map with the extracted pieces.

  • Check the declared coordinate model and supported extent.
  • Keep the full report with the delivered file.
  • Retain originals before importing simplified tracks or split meshes.
